Hey, blessed brilliant beauty! Thanks for coming to read again and if it is your first read on the blog, WELCOME! You can subscribe down below so you never miss a post! Today I am going to be sharing 5 things that helped me get through final exams this week! I hope you enjoy!
Customizing Study Sessions
Okay, so the first thing that helped me survive this #finalsseason, was learning my best way of studying then executing it. Whenever exam time comes around, sometimes I find myself comparing my study methods and skills to those around me. This is ALWAYS super detrimental to me because these comparisons cause me to doubt whether or not my studying is “good enough.” WRONG!!! Don’t do this. I promise it is completely a waste of time. I literally had to tell myself, “you know how you study best…just do it!” After coming to terms with the fact that I study differently from those around me (which is okay), I used all my studying strengths to my advantage. For instance, I like to study in the morning when the sun is out and in very quiet places that are familiar and comfortable. After learning these things, my study sessions got so much better because I was optimizing my study sessions by knowing myself! This really helped me with getting through final exams because I was able to have a quality study session each and every time. Quality over quantity blessed, brilliant, beauties!
Prioritizing MY Time
During stressful times like these, it can be very easy to become distracted by the world around you. Don’t allow anything minuscule to take away your valued time! School really means a lot to me because I come from a family where everyone didn’t have the opportunity to attend school because they were sacrificing their wants for needs of future generations like me! Although I don’t always get the grades that I want, one thing that has become very important to me since I started at the university was that I always strived to do my best. Doing this sometimes means eliminating distractions. This could include social media, TV (this was the hardest because y’all knowwww how much I love 25 Days of Christmas on Freeform), and even friends! By doing this, I have learned that one of the most rewarding things in life is reclaiming your time. I was able to study hard and effectively while taking care of myself which brings me to my next thing that helped me get through final exams.
Taking Care of Myself
I am pretty sure I did like three face masks this week. No but really, during my study breaks, I did things that made me feel happy! So I baked, blogged, played the piano occasionally, and did LOTS of face masks! Here is my thing, I truly feel that for me to do my best at anything, I have to take care of myself first. So even though sleep probably would have been the ideal thing to do (cat naps do work, don’t underestimate them) I am so glad I decided to do things that made me feel happy so that when I got back to studying, I felt refreshed and ready to work again! Remember, self-care is NOT selfish!
Staying Organized
Okay, so maybe this is actually something that you do before finals nevertheless, it truly saved me this week! Taking time out to organize my notes and homework helped save me so much time and energy. When I slip into being a disorganized student, I always find myself missing out on small concepts or forgetting to turn things in. Staying organized throughout the semester with your notes is a LIFESAVER! Next semester, I am definitely going to continue to be extremely organized with my notes because it was so easy to go back and study them for final exams. I was never searching for papers or old exams because they were all right there! Organization is key!
Having Faith in Things that Matter
One of the things that really helped me get through final exams is putting my faith into things that mattered–myself and God. I continually had to remind myself that regardless of what was happening right now in life, “I can do all things through Christ through strengthens me.” I spent a lot of time praying for strength these couple of days because I mean let’s be honest, finals can sometimes put you down and make you feel like you’re not smart or good enough. Constantly reminding myself that my faith resides in no one and nothing else but God encouraged me to believe that I could study for just a little bit longer and that I was capable of anything I put my mind to. I was able to trust in my own work ethic because I knew that in the end, everything would be alright.
I you all liked this post blessed, brilliant beauties! Oh and don’t forget, if you did finish out the semester this fall, regardless of what grades you get, remember what an accomplishment it is to even be where you are now. Look at yourself compared to where you were a year ago. You should be nothing less than extremely proud of your growth. Just remember that growth is something that happens over time. Be gentle with yourself and be proud of your accomplishments! Tell me what (class, thing, fear, etc.) you conquered this semester down below!

All of these are so true especially organizing time and study sessions. That’s what helped me get through finals.

You forgot one thing though. coffee by the gallon! Haha (no seriously though, caffeine helped me loads). Maybe why I’m still kinda sorta addicted to it.
What also helped me is making time for prayer even while finals were kicking my butt. I found that I got my best grades, in the end, when I was able to balance exam prep + faith. You’d think it would be the other way around, where you get so frazzled and forget your prayer life, but making time deliberately really helped me out.

I alway try to use to my planner a lot when studying. I’ll plan out what I need to do each day. That way, I’m not wasting any time.
