January Faves + National Hot Chocolate Day

January 31, 2018 Everyday Life

Hello, blessed brilliant beauties! Happy National Hot Chocolate Day! Hot Chocolate has been my favorite hot drink since I was a little girl. I drank it when I was sick, sad, happy, overwhelmed, and even today, you will probably never catch me not drinking some form of hot chocolate during the week! In lieu of this magnificent holiday, today on the blog, I am going to be talking about my favorites! Of course we will start with two of my favorite places to grab a cup of hot chocolate on those days when the snow flurries come out to dance in the ‘Burgh.

First up is Adda Coffee & Tea House in Pittsburgh. They make THE BEST hot chocolate! I always stop by Adda during the weekends when I have a little extra time on my plate. It is the perfect secret coffee shop to catch up on reading or school work. I am in love with its perfect size, serene atmosphere and great selection of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate!

At my school, I am on the executive board of my university’s chapter of She’s the First! This organization’s mission is to sponsor girls’ education in the developing world. Each university chapter fundraises to provide community, leadership opportunities, and a sense of global citizenship for the girls we sponsor. We raise money so girls all over the world can be the first in their families to graduate.  Today, we had a chapter bonding event at The Milkshake Factory in the Southside of Pittsburgh! The Milkshake Factory’s hot chocolate milkshake is soooo good! To all my hot chocolate lovers out there, Happy National Hot Chocolate Day!

Okay, so lets continue with these January favorites!

Skin Care: One of my January resolutions was to take better care of my skin by using natural skin care products. One day while visiting Sephora, I saw some interesting natural skin care products and thought I would give it a try! I have been loving these extremely moisturizing products this month! If you are looking for natural skin care products to try, check out some of these!

Fitness: One of my friends took me to my very first spin classes and I have been loving it ever since! I probably go at least three times a week. It is such a great way for me to just release all my stress from the day! Plus, it does keep me motivated to living a healthy lifestyle because during the workout, you sweat so much and it makes you want to drink so much more water. I have even started eating healthier! If you like workout classes and haven’t tried spinning, give your local studio a try! Most of them should have a student discount so don’t forget that university ID. Book your next fitness class with the app below!

Makeup: I actually haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup lately. I have been really trying to keep my skin moisturized with all of the cold and snowy weather here up north. However, I have been using this Marc Jacobs lipstick like crazy. It is moisturizing on my lips and gives off a subtle rose color! If you are looking for a lipstick that is moisturizing and has sheer pigment, try this one!

Music: This southern girl has gone back to her southern music ways this January. Even though I do sometimes get some weird looks, I have enjoyed blasting “The Long Way” by Brett Eldredge and “My Church” by Maren Morris in my car! My favorite song changes like every day but these have been staples this January.

Scripture: My favorite scripture this month has been Matthew 5:14-16. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Whenever I have felt discouraged, I try to remind myself that I am the light of the world and should continue to shine by using the first that I have been given to glorify God.

Subscription Box: I don’t want to say too much on this because I had a lot of requests to its own review on it nevertheless, I have really been loving the Self-Care box by Bloom Beautifully! The last two times I have gotten this box, I have just been so pleased! It makes me feel like the creators really put a lot of thought and heart into it. If you are looking for a subscription box for the soul, try this one out!

I hope you enjoyed this month’s favorites! Before you go too sleep, grab a cup of hot chocolate to celebrate today! Remember, you are always blessed, brilliant, and beautiful! See you next time!

I’m not a huge spinning class fan! I wish I could get into it but I just can’t focus on anything other than how uncomfortable I find the seats! But I definitely have been loving mixing up my workouts this past month!

I’ve been swapping out liquid lipstick for literally anything else, especially for Paw-Paw’s ointment.
