Hey blessed, brilliant, beauties! Welcome to my very first post of The Paris Travel Diaries on the blog! This is where I will be sharing my Paris study abroad journey with you all! For the next four weeks I will be blogging all about my study abroad experiences in Paris and I am literally so excited! Let’s jump right in!
I will be studying abroad with a program at my university that is partnering with CEA. CEA is a popular organization that provides students with international study abroad experiences all over the world! They have already been so helpful. They have their own learning center where my classmates and I will attend class and even organized our temporary housing reservations!
I will be living in Paris for the next four weeks and taking two literature classes regarding Parisian history and culture. The funny thing is, I have actually never taken a French class. Since high school, I have studied Spanish and never thought that I could learn more than one language. IT’S FAKE NEWS! You can! Thanks to the Duolingo App, the library, and Youtube, I have been studying a little bit of the French language every day just so I can be a little more prepared. Two years ago, I went to Spain and it was just a lot easier to communicate in the country’s official language. I also had more fun practicing my accent and adding to my vocabulary. I don’t know as much French as I do Spanish so I am sure this will be very interesting.
I am kind of nervous to be traveling alone, though. Even though all the students in my group attend the same university as I do, I don’t know any of them. I am praying that I will find some cool people to explore and study with!
I can’t believe that I am leaving on Saturday and I haven’t even started packing! Tomorrow I will be blogging my study abroad packing list after doing some Youtube research. I think my flight is about eight hours but, luckily, it is a straight flight! Thanks, Delta!
I have already been learning some things about Parisian culture. The Parisian union workers are actually going on transportation strikes during some days in the next couple of months. Luckily I will be arriving before their first day of strike!
I am really looking forward to exploring the city and the culture of Paris. I just can’t stop thinking about my adventure to Spain two years ago. Traveling abroad really makes you think different about your place and role in the world. Watching people who are culturally different than you express recognizable and smililar emotions like happiness and laughter is one of the most rewarding things ever. I am so blessed to be able to have this experience with Pitt. Thanks mom and dad!
It’s my last year in college and I want to fill it with traveling and memories. I don’t want to look back on my college career and think what if. So, here is to a year full of adventure and growth! Catch you next time on the travel diaries here at Blessed Brilliant Beautiful!
