Ways to Remember the Reason for the Season

December 21, 2017 My Faith Journey

Hey, blessed brilliant beauties! I am so excited to be sharing this post today! So as most of you all know, I get subscriptions to She Reads Truth’s bible study plans. During the Christmas season, I have been doing their Advent 2017 Study Plan and have been absolutely loving it! It is filled with music, recipes, and of course, scripture regarding the birth of Jesus! Reading this has really had me thinking about how the true meaning of Christmas can be easily lost in all the chaos of shopping and cute wrapping ideas. I mean I know sometimes I get really caught up, too. As I was doing my bible study, I started wondering how God would want his daughters to celebrate the birth of Jesus. So I compiled a list of things that my blessed brilliant beauties can do this holiday season to remember the true reason for the season! I hope you enjoy!

1. Do a Prayer Challenge

Challenge yourself this season to choose a time every day to dedicate to praying. Even if it just a quick five minute thank you for all the blessings He has granted you this year, talk to God this season to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Ask him for vision, guidance, or anything else you’re looking for in 2018! Stay tuned for the next blog post on how to plan for the new year!

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” -Matthew 21:22

2. Start Bible Journaling

For all my creative blessed brilliant beauties out there, have you heard of bible journaling? Basically, it is a way to spend time with God by artistically designing scriptures that speak to you in the margins of your bible! Check out these super cute examples below from pitterandglink!

3. Give with Meaning

There are so many people who are going without basic needs this holiday season. Show the love of Jesus this season by doing something good for those who aren’t expecting it! My family has decided to donate all the shoes we don’t wear to a children’s home. You don’t have to give money, but you can donate your time and kindness to others who really need it!

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. -2 Corinthains 9:6-7

4. Spend Time with the Word

Whether it just reading the Christmas story or investing in your very own Christmas devotional, spend this holiday season celebrating the birth of Jesus with the word! You guys know I LOVE anything from She Reads Truth! They even have the app version of all their study plans!  Check out The Soul Scripts too if you’re looking for something online. They have great blogs and even a youtube channel if you like something more visual.

5. Listen to Christmas Music

Did you now that Silent Night is the MOST recorded Christmas song since 1978? I absolutely love listening to Christmas music that celebrates the birth of Jesus. If you see me in my car this holiday season dancing and singing extremely loudly, well, that is what I was listening to #sorrynotsorry! Listen to my acoustic Christmas playlist on Spotify below!

Hoped this post helped with remembering the reason for the season! Remember that you are blessed, brilliant and beautiful! What do you like to do to remember the reason for the season?
