Happy 2020! Gosh, it has been so long since I have written on the blog. From finishing up my first semester of graduate school to getting prepared to figure out what in the world I am doing in 2020, the last quarter of 2019 was such a whirlwind. Nevertheless, I am here and I am back and ecstatic to be sharing with you all on the blog on this first week of January!
Quick update on how I will be posting on the blog this year. Every month you can expect AT LEAST two blog posts based on faith, career/school, lifestyle, advice, or travel posts. For those of you who are veterans here, you know the deal. Since I am in graduate school it has gotten a little harder for me to write as consistently as I really want to, but I will be trying to make more of an effort this semester and as we continue into 2020.
Okay, with that being said, let’s dive right into this week’s blog post!
This morning I was listening to a podcast that one of my friends recommended (Manifest with Tori Desimone) and I couldn’t help but feel the need to share something I heard. She talks about this idea of living the life of your highest or most ideal self.
Basically she asks, “If you were able to be your highest or ideal self, what is it that you would do each morning before you head off to school or work? What kind of foods will you eat? What and who would be a priority in your life? Once you have figured that all out, what are you going to do to make that a reality? “
It hit me right there and it has been something that I have been praying about for quite some time. You see, for the most part, everything you want to be is already within you. As I was doing my daily devotional this morning, I kept asking God for peace in 2020. I didn’t want to have a heart heavy of worry and anxiety for once and was praying to Him to help me let go. Then after I journaled it all out (I write my prayers by the way which is why I was journaling), I couldn’t help but feel something within me saying, “Peace is already within you.”
So as you are writing all of these extravagant goals and if you want 2020 to be a year where you are “new” (forget those negative people who try to dismiss that), just know that what you want to be and what you want to do is already within you. The first step toward that goal is already in your reach. Maybe it is going to take some bravery asking for guidance or help, but it is already within you.
So spend some time this evening and reflect on who that person is–your highest self. Write down your wildest dreams. Reflect and decide that you can and will be better. And remember God is never going to take you somewhere and leave you.
Success is already within you. Peace is already within you. Love is already within you.
Always remember you are blessed, brilliant, and beautiful.
Happy 2020!
