I don’t remember every experience we ever had nor do I know everything that you did behind closed doors to help me succeed. I can’t remember those nine months I lived inside of you (by the way, sorry about that) nor can I remember those sleepless nights I caused you during your residency. I don’t know how hard it was raising three children nor do I know what it was like to be constantly consumed by your children. But, if there is one thing that I do know, it is that you are probably one of the most hardworking, caring, courageous, God-fearing, women I know and I am honored to call you my mother.
For the times he broke my heart, thank you for being there to wash away the tears.
For the times I fell during my competitions, thank you for being there to brush off my knees and help me get back up to finish.
For the times that I felt alone, thank you for reminding me that God is always with me and I am never alone.
For the times I felt like I lost my way, thank you for teaching me to get on my knees and pray.
For the times I felt inadequate, thank you for teaching me to press on.
For the times I failed, thank you for helping me get up and try one more time.
For the times I won, thank you for teaching me to be grateful
For the times I dreamed of being a rockstar/Olympian/wedding dress designer, thank you for believing in me.
For the times I didn’t want to do my homework, thank you for teaching me the value of my education and how to be grateful.
For the times I felt like all my friends walked away, thank you for being the only one that stayed.
For the times I got really sad in college, thank you for reminding me that there is so much in the world to be happy about.
And for all of you that read my blog, I want you to thank my mother as well because she is the individual who taught me to be blessed, brilliant, and beautiful. She is my inspiration for everything that I do. When we are little we always said we want to be like our mothers. Well, that has not changed for me. Thank you mommy for being so much more than just my mom. I love you. You are forever blessed, brilliant, and beautiful.
